Cultivating Futures through agriculture
In Uganda, involving young people in coffee farming is crucial as coffee production has decreased despite being a key cash crop. Through the promotion of practical learning opportunities in coffee farming, TWENA development foundation engaged youth in Mukono in a coffee tail to engage activities seeks to rejuvenate interest in this vital industry, guaranteeing its longevity for upcoming generations and equipping young individuals with valuable skills and prospects within their community’s economy.

TWENA development foundation and Christian Heritage church, which supports a learning centre with 200 children have supported the youths to establish start-up projects in Bugiri in animal, vegetable and fruit farming.

Collaborations with community members
We believe that collaboration is key to creating meaningful and sustainable change within communities. At TWENA, we work closely with community members and organizations to develop customized initiatives that target the unique needs and challenges of each community. Through close collaboration with local stakeholders such as community leaders, grassroots organizations, and governmental agencies, our programs are designed to reflect local knowledge, perspectives, and priorities.
Through these collaborations, we are able to leverage existing resources, expertise, and networks to maximize the impact of our initiatives. When it comes to implementing youth empowerment programs, promoting women's rights, or addressing environmental issues, we understand the significance of establishing partnerships rooted in mutual respect, trust, and common objectives.

Education- Early Learning Centres
We aim to establish Early Learning Centres to promote local education development with integration of literacy and ICT facilities. The intent of the centres is ensure that all children of school going age access school. The envisioned youths at 20 years by TDF is one whose education, behavior and skills abilities were nurtured at a young age. TDF also considers level of education as a key component of the human development index (HDI). The ECD centres are considered as contribution towards human capital development in the target communities.

Ubuntu Initiative: Advocacy for human rights & gender equality
In Uganda, youth often fall victim to child and human trafficking, a consequence of high unemployment rates and neglect. TWENA is dedicated to addressing this issue through advocating for child protection, education and gender equality. We prioritize maintaining children's education and fostering economic prospects for youth. Our goal is to offer skills training and job opportunities to protect at-risk youth from being lured into fraudulent overseas job offers that can lead to human trafficking. Through our advocacy efforts and initiatives for economic development, we aim to empower young individuals and parents to create better futures and human rights safeguarding them from exploitation.

Community outreach
TWENA Development Foundation has partnered with local community groups and organizations to carry out community outreach activities. This collaboration seeks to engage a wide range of individuals, encompassing more than 1,000 members, with a focus on youth and young mothers. Collaboratively, we are working on strategies to tackle a range of social and economic issues in the community, including empowering women and youth, improving livelihood options, and ensuring access to vital services. Through our joint endeavour, we aim to create a beneficial influence and promote lasting growth in the community.

Capacity building
Twena Development Foundation (TDF) conducts capacity building for various groups, including smallholder farmers, households, youths, and women. For example, TDF aims to enhance the capacity of smallholder farmers with better skills to improve agribusiness and value chains, increase the incomes of households through the establishment of household-based enterprises, educate and mentor young children to read and write, empower youths with lifelong skills for self-employment or employability, and improve the capacity of women and men on gender equality and socio-economic rights as a catalyst for growth

Economic innovation hub
TWENA is launching an innovative program called the Youth Innovation Hub, aimed at addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment. This hub will lead initiatives in recycling, upskilling, art and design, woodworking, and fostering innovation in non-traditional skill areas like ICT and agro-processing. TWENA fosters an environment that promotes entrepreneurship and creativity, guiding young individuals to lead them toward a path of achievement. The program aims to empower young individuals by offering hands-on projects and mentorship, enabling them to unleash their potential and transform innovative ideas into tangible solutions.

Increasing household income
Twena development foundation champions on supporting single women and youth in entrepreneurship on diversification of income to include non-agricultural services. Through partnerships with women and youth organizations, SACCOs, and associations, such as youth livelihood funds and women empowerment funds.
