At Twena Development Foundation, we believe in the power of community. We strive to be problem-solvers, bringing diverse perspectives and community engagement to address the challenges of women and youth in rural and vulnerable communities. Through our actions, we aim to inspire and support the community, making a lasting impact.
Get to Know Us
Twena Development Foundation (TDF) was founded in 2018 as a faith-based non-government organization focusing on personal growth and development to improve the socioeconomic livelihood of women and youth in Uganda, especially in rural communities. In Uganda, the word, "Twena" means "all of us" or "we all.". It is rephrased as Itwena, Ffena in other languages. It highlights inclusive and collective identity, promoting unity and shared responsibility within a community or group.
TDF focuses on access to affordable opportunities in rural communities through; improved education, agribusiness development, social development and entrepreneurship initiatives and community advocacy.

Strategic objectives

To advance transformative agricultural systems to enhance rural economic empowerment, household food security, and sustainable environmental management practices.

To empower youths between 12-25 years with life-long skills for self-employment or employability, while enhancing the organizational capacity to effectively fulfill its mission of promoting women's and youth empowerment network and advocacy.

To create awareness within the community by providing access to information on development, markets, health, and education, enabling informed decisions on critical aspects of well-being.

To improve the capacity of women and men on gender equality, socio-economic (resource) rights, and combatting human trafficking, sexual and gender-based violence against women and girls, while advocating for their social justice.
